Sean Combs – AKA Diddy – has made an undisclosed donation to the Boys' and Girls' Club in his old stomping ground of Harlem, saving the organization from being shut down.
“Mr. Combs’ contribution comes at a time when we were faced with the possibility of eliminating existing programs and/or club sites,” Willie C. Bentley, Jr., board member and resource development chair, said. “One hundred per cent of Mr. Combs’ contribution will go directly to the young people, and provide educational, recreational and social enrichment programs allowing us to move forward as a club, uninterrupted.”
Since 1980, the Boys & Girls Club of Harlem has been in the forefront of youth development, working with young people who need us the most regardless of economic, social and family circumstances. The Boys & Girls Club of Harlem provides a tangible measure of hope. The Club offers young people what they need and want most: adults who respect and listen to them; a safe environment where they can have fun and be themselves; and interesting, constructive activities that channel youthful energy into challenging pursuits.
