Mayor Bloomberg Will Take the Stand in the John Haggerty Trial on Monday

The mayor will testify on Monday against Haggerty, a Republican consultant accused of stealing $1 million from him when he was hired to provide "ballot security" in the 2009 election. Haggerty, the prosecution alleges, spent most of the money on a house for his dad instead. The cash came from Bloomberg's personal account, so he didn't have to disclose the expenditure. The administration's practices in dealing with Haggerty have already come under fire in the trial, and Bloomberg isn't exactly a guy known for dealing well with criticism. This one should be fascinating to watch. [City Room/NYT]
