Kate Winslet

In May 2007, Winslet donated a 3,000 ($6,000) settlement that she received for a libel action against a UK magazine to 3 eating disorder charities, including beat. The magazine falsely claimed that she visited a diet doctor.

In February 2008, a dress belonging to Winslet was sold for $40,000, with proceeds going to Cardboard Citizens, a theater company for homeless people. Winslet is also an ambassador for the company.

The Oscar-winning star founded the Golden Hat Foundation – named after a poem by Keli Thorsteinsson – following her work on the documentary A Mother’s Courage: Talking Back To Autism.
