It appears that Strikeforce is looking to stake a rightful claim to maintain some power after being purchased under the Zuffa LLC banner, as Paul Daley and Evangelista "Cyborg" Santos are scheduled to meet July 30 at Strikeforce: Fedor vs. Henderson.
MMAFighting.com broke the news earlier today after Daley's management confirmed with the website.
It is expected that both fighters will meet at welterweight, but there is no confirmation as to whether or not they will fight for the vacant Strikeforce welterweight title. The title was recently relinquished by Nick Diaz, who will challenge UFC welterweight champion Georges St-Pierre at UFC 136 later this fall. Coincidentally, Diaz holds victories over both Daley and Santos.
"I'm happy to be fighting again," Daley said in a press release.
"For those who haven't seen the Melvin Manhoef vs. Cyborg fight, watch it and expect the same outcome for Cyborg...He'll be knocked out."
Strikeforce: Fedor vs. Henderson will take place live at the Sears Centre in Hoffman State, Ill.
