The first half of the Morris twins falls off the draft board at pick 11. Marcus Morris is a power forward out of Kansas, who played alongside his brother Markieff at the school.
Morris has a varied skill set. He is of course a physical low post presence and rebounder. Marcus also operates well in the open court and showed the ability to hit perimeter jump shots in college.
David Lee is Golden State?s best player and is the established power forward, but the Warriors need help in the frontcourt in general. Andris Biedrins and Epke Udoh are solid low post presences, but are certainly not spectacular. Jeff Adrien meanwhile has seen limited minutes behind Lee at the power forward position.
Marcus Morris could contribute at either low post position. He could also aid Golden State in the rebounding department. The Warriors finished 19th in the league in team rebounding last season.
The backcourt duo of Monta Ellis and Stephen Curry appears to be solid for some time to come. Golden State needs to focus on improving their frontcourt. The Warriors struggled to make stops on defense and rebound the basketball. Marcus Morris can provide immediate relief in those two categories.
