With a trade of Kevin Kolb a certainty, the Philadelphia Eagles will be looking for a backup quarterback who can carry the team if starter Mike Vick goes down.
Vick is an elusive quarterback who can run when the time calls, but he can also take hits that he shouldn?t be taking. It?s those hits that put him out of action last year and could do the same this year.
That?s where Brett Favre comes in. Yes, that Brett Favre.
There has been no confirmation of any interest, but Pro Football Talk is reporting that the Eagles have had internal discussions about the possibility of bringing Favre in as the team?s backup.
While many would point to a conflict of interest between Vick and Favre, Vick said on his twitter account:
I would be honored to have Brett Favre as a backup. That will be amazing Learning how to toy with defenses the way he did his whole career.
Vick continuously has said everything right since his departure from prison and this is another example of that. The way he has handled both the success and the struggles is a great message for the youths that look up to him.
With Favre on the team, not only would the Eagles have a great backup quarterback in case Vick goes down, but future quarterback Mike Kafka could learn on the fly from one of the greatest of all time.
If Philadelphia could manage to sign him to a cheaper contract, they could have a great back up plan in case their star quarterback goes down with an ever-possible injury.
