The Los Angeles Galaxy and San Jose Earthquakes are still scoreless in Santa Clara.
In the 47th minute, converted forward Mike Magee proved that he can make a save with a stop on Bobby Convey. A shot from Chris Birchall in the 53rd minute sailed high, wide and out of danger.
For the most part of this stretch, it has been a ball possession battle, with both teams struggling to generate chances in their respective attacking thirds.
The San Jose Earthquakes will need to continue to apply pressure on the Galaxy backline, especially with Anthony Ampaipitakwong coming in off the bench to provide offensive punch.
With Magee doing goalkeeping duties, LA were forced to go on the defensive.
