Kansas City Royals Trade Rumors: Finally Time To Deal Joakim Soria?

With another trade deadline approaching at the end of this month, the Kansas City Royals are likely to be sellers once again.

Over the past two seasons, KC closer Joakim Soria is been linked to numerous trade talks, including one with the Royals and Yankees last season.

With the deadline for MLB teams to make trades now less than a week away, Soria has a chance to be dealt for the right price this season.

Looking at the trade market for the Royals' All-Star closer, the New York Yankees still stick out the most for a contending team in need of a big-time closer to fill out the back end of their pen going forward.

Sure, Mariano Rivera has put together yet another masterful season in 2011, but at 41 years old, who knows how much gas he has left in the tank.

Right now, Rivera is signed through 2012, but that could all change if the Yanks opt to go with Soria as their closer of the future.

Other than the Yankees, the Jays are another team that is on the verge of contending who could desperately use a closer in their 'pen.

Veterans Frank Francisco and Jon Rauch have combined to save just 17 out of their 25 attempts at the back end of the Jays' pen.

Soria would be an immediate upgrade over anyone that Blue Jays currently have, and he could come in and be the No. 1 closer from day one.

Whether Soria stays or goes, his name should be a hot topic as we head closer to the 2011 MLB trade deadline this Sunday at four pm EDT.

Stay tuned for the latest happenings with Joakim Soria and Kansas City Royals baseball.
