Brazil vs. Argentina: Pride and Prestige on the Line in 2nd Leg of Superclasico

Brazil and Argentina clash once again in a Superclasico that is far from friendly.

The second leg of the Superclasico will not determine the winner of a tournament, table or league. The two sides are meting what is essentially a well-thought out friendly.

The two sides drew their first matchup in Argentina. On Wednesday, the home-grown talent of both squads will do battle once again. On the line is just as important as a trophy.

Brazil head coach Mario Menezes has come under fire for dismal showing by one of the world's elite sides. The pressure is mounting, as this is hardly the international side to wait patiently before the team begins to click.

The major stars that play abroad will once again be out of this fixture. The Superclasico is played by those that play domestically, creating a tighter bond for fans following the event.

A loss to Argentina could spell the end for Menezes. However, I have noticed a bigger, more disturbing trend in the more recent play.

Ronaldinho, a player that was once regarded as the best in the world, has fallen on humbling times. I would go so far as to say that he is merely just another player on the pitch.

The first leg posed an out of sorts Ronaldhinho, who never got going as a pivotal cog in the Brazilian attack.

In fact, I would propose that both Neymar and Damaio are more feared players heading into the match. This is a team void of a great deal of talent playing overseas, yet Ronaldinho seems content to throw away the remaining years of his career on malaise.

I would very much like to see a spirited return by one of football's former greatest player. For Brazil, the home fixture is far more than just a friendly affair.

There are very real effects that will hinder on the result. Two of the greatest nations to play the game do battle on Wednesday.

This is never a throw away contest. That sentiment gets heightened as head coach and player attempt to garner a modicum of respect from supporters. The stakes continue to rise, making this a friendly to remember.
